Caring for your woolen clothes
Clothing care can be a real headache, even more so when it comes to wool clothing and accessories! However, maintaining your wool products is easy and eco-friendly. Here are some simple and effective maintenance tips, allowing you to maintain our wool sweaters, overshirts, coats and accessories, as well as our organic cotton t-shirts over time in just a few minutes!
How to care for a woolen garment or accessory?
Ventilation, for natural and eco-responsible care of your woolens
First of all, one of the most ecological and effective methods to ensure natural cleaning and long-lasting maintenance of your wool sweaters and accessories can be summed up in two words: airing. Whether it's a scarf, a sweater or an overshirt, it's not necessary to wash your woolens every time you wear them; once or twice a season is enough to best preserve the original softness of your product and its durability over time. Since wool is a living material, it self-regenerates.
Air your wool piece for 24 to 48 hours in fresh air or in a room with an open window. When exposed to oxygen, the wool will release all its impurities and odors. And no, your hygiene is not in doubt, your wool product will smell clean! Save water and electricity!
Can we machine wash our wool clothes and accessories?
Good news, the majority of our wool items can be machine washed!
Not sure which program to use depending on the type of wool product you want to machine wash? Here are our tips, grouped by product type:
- Wool sweaters and accessories: we recommend that you select a delicate program or a short cycle (20 minutes) between 20 and 30 degrees maximum , with a slow spin speed, between 400 and 600 rpm . Do not hesitate to put your item in a washing net or a pillowcase for machine washing to avoid friction with the drum. Regarding drying, it is best to dry your sweater or accessory flat on a towel. Do not put it on a hanger or on a clothes horse, this will prevent it from deforming with the weight of the water. Then, dry it away from any direct heat source (radiator, fireplace, etc.) Last tip: we do not recommend washing in cold water, as water that is too cold can felt the wool.
- Recycled wool overshirts: in the same way as for our wool sweaters and accessories, we recommend washing on a delicate program or a short cycle (20 minutes) between 20 and 30 degrees maximum , with a slow spin speed, between 400 and 600 rpm . Regarding drying, we advise you to opt for flat drying, away from any direct heat source (radiator, fireplace, etc.). If in doubt, do not hesitate to contact a professional (dry cleaner) who does not clean with chemicals.
Please note that for some of our products, such as our coats and capes, as well as our blankets and cushions, we advise you to have them maintained by a professional to avoid accidents and preserve the quality of these pieces.
How to wash our woolen clothes and accessories by hand?
If you do not want to wash your sweater or accessory in the washing machine or you do not have the ideal program to do it, it is of course possible to wash it by hand.
To do this, follow these steps carefully:
- Fill a basin with lukewarm water between 20 and 30°C. Avoid washing in cold water, which will tend to felt the wool.
- Then add a little mild detergent, such as detergents intended for fiber care, or Marseille soap.
- Place your sweater or accessory inside out and gently squeeze the garment. Avoid rubbing or twisting it. Let it soak for about ten minutes before moving on to the next step.
- Rinse until all the detergent is removed, making sure to use water at the same temperature as the washing water to avoid thermal shocks and therefore washing accidents.
- Then dry your sweater or accessory flat on a towel. Avoid putting it on a hanger or clothes horse. Also make sure to dry it away from a source of intense heat (fireplace, radiators, etc.).
How to remove a stain from a wool item?
To remove a stain without risking damaging your wool item, we recommend that you act quickly to prevent it from becoming too difficult to remove.
To do this, rub it gently with a little Marseille soap, then, after leaving it to act for a few minutes, rinse with lukewarm water.
If it is still present, repeat the operation several times. You can also add a little black soap directly to the stain.
How to iron a woolen garment?
If you dried it flat, your wool sweater or garment should be ready to wear. However, if you still want to iron it, here are our tips:
- Turn your clothes inside out before ironing.
- Iron with a warm iron so as not to burn the fibers.
- Use steam to remove wrinkles more easily.
How to prevent pilling of wool sweaters?
Pilling is a natural process that diminishes over time . Pilling mainly appears in areas of friction. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent this phenomenon specific to certain natural materials which does not depend in any way on their quality, but on short fibers that intertwine during friction. Gradually, these fibers disappear and/or harden after several washes.
We recommend a few simple rules to avoid this phenomenon as much as possible:
- Do not remove lint by hand, as this will weaken the fibers of the garment.
- Carefully use a standard razor or an electric "pill" shaver to shave off small pills.

For a natural moth repellent, place a piece of cedar wood in your cupboards.
How to care for our organic cotton t-shirts?
We recommend that you wash on a short cycle up to 40°C, turning the t-shirt inside out before washing. Choose washes of similar colours to your t-shirt to avoid any discolouration accidents.
We do not recommend tumble drying, as it will tend to shrink your clothes. You can air dry your t-shirt on a clothesline, making sure to shake it out before hanging it out. You can then place your favorite t-shirt on a hanger or folded in your closet!
For ideal ironing, use an iron at a low temperature and iron your t-shirt inside out.
